Nick DiCarlo Honored as One of the Nation’s Top Young Attorneys by Bloomberg Law

Bloomberg Law 40 under 40 award badge

Zuckerman Spaeder LLP is pleased to announce that Bloomberg Law has named senior associate Nicholas M. DiCarlo as one of its “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40” honorees for 2024. This annual award recognizes accomplished attorneys who inspire “their law firms, companies, non-profit organizations and government agencies to elevate, innovate and serve — not only clients but their communities beyond.”

Mr. DiCarlo, who is honored in the Litigation category, is a leader on complex cases, including those with important national implications. He has been at the center of high-stakes legal action against the Boy Scouts of America, representing roughly 1,800 victims of child sexual abuse. As evidence of his strong track record of handling business disputes and investigations, he was instrumental in obtaining a declination for EagleBank’s CFO as part of an SEC probe. He has also been heavily involved in representing Lloyd’s of London in lead paint-related insurance coverage cases worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Additionally, Mr. DiCarlo has developed a niche practice at Zuckerman Spaeder, in which he represents genetic testing companies in disputes with formidable opponents in the insurance industry. In this practice, he has delivered multi-million-dollar victories in reimbursement claims against some of the nation’s largest health insurers.

On behalf of his pro bono clients, Mr. DiCarlo recently led a determined and successful appeal in a long-running housing discrimination case that will set a precedent and protect the rights of tenants and immigrant families across the country. His commitment to service has also been directed inward at the firm, where he was a founding member of the firm’s Associates Committee and has played a central role in building the firm’s associate mentorship initiatives.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. DiCarlo served as a staff member in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, where he advised on employment and health issues, including implementation of the Affordable Care Act.  In private practice, he has remained dedicated to using his position to serve others.

“We are incredibly proud to see Nick’s name among this impressive, nationwide list of leading young lawyers,” said Zuckerman Spaeder Co-Chair Caroline Judge Mehta. “He is an exceptional litigator who is committed to his clients and consistently gives back to our firm and the wider community. Nick’s desire to lead and to serve, together with the success he has delivered for clients, make him truly deserving of this honor.”

In describing the process that led to the selection of Mr. DiCarlo and others, Bloomberg Law says, “Our news editors evaluated nominees from across the country. We analyzed their records of success for clients. We examined how well they balanced client responsibilities, leadership roles and pro bono legal service.”
