Zuckerman Spaeder LLP Congratulates Partner Amit P. Mehta on Nomination to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia

Zuckerman Spaeder LLP congratulates partner Amit P. Mehta on his nomination to serve as a United States District Judge for the District of Columbia. Mr. Mehta was nominated to this post by President Barack Obama, and his nomination will go before the U.S. Senate for confirmation.

Recognized nationally in The National Law Journal’s “Minority 40 Under 40,” as well as in Benchmark Litigation and Super Lawyers, Mr. Mehta is an experienced trial lawyer who represents companies and individuals in criminal investigations and prosecutions, securities enforcement actions, and complex business disputes. Mr. Mehta has represented clients in criminal and civil enforcement cases involving financial fraud, public corruption, antitrust laws, sanctions and export control regimes, securities laws, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). His clients in complex business disputes have included parties to antitrust claims, partnership disputes, and breach of contract actions. Mr. Mehta has represented many of the firm’s most notable clients, helping bring their cases to successful resolution under intense public scrutiny.

Mr. Mehta’s experience is drawn from both public service and private practice. Before joining Zuckerman Spaeder, he worked at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, where he first chaired numerous trials for clients charged with serious criminal offenses. Mr. Mehta previously clerked for the Hon. Susan Graber in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Portland, OR. Mr. Mehta currently serves on the board of directors for the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project and is the former co-chair of the District of Columbia Bar’s Criminal Law and Individual Rights Section Steering Committee.
